Spicejet Offers Tickets at Base Fare of Rs 1
SpiceJet on Tuesday announced that it is offering tickets at a base fare of Rs 1 as part of a sale.

SpiceJet said more than 1 lakh one-way tickets are available under the offer. The fare is excluding taxes and fees.

However for round-trip purchases, the other leg will attract regular fares, SpiceJet clarified.

The SpiceJet offer is available on select domestic direct (non-stop) flights only, and can only be purchased on the airline's mobile app. The sale is not available through other channels, SpiceJet said.

The three-day sale starts on July 15 at 10 am and will be open till midnight, July 17, 2015. The travel period covered in this sale is July 15, 2015 to March 31, 2016.

Under this promotion, only two round-trip tickets can be booked at the sale fare on a single mobile phone handset, SpiceJet said.

Tickets bought under the offer are non-refundable (statutory taxes are refundable) and non-changeable, SpiceJet said.

This is not the first time SpiceJet is offering tickets at a base fare of Rs 1. In April last year, SpiceJet had announced Rs 1-fares.

Domestic airlines have been coming up with promotional fares almost every other week in a bid to garner market share in a highly competitive market. This in turn has helped boost passenger traffic significantly. Domestic airlines carried 322 lakh passengers during January-May 2015 as against 267 lakh during the corresponding period a year ago - an increase of over 20 per cent.
